EGR is an award-winning contemporary visual artist based in Toronto, Canada. Her work challenges perceptions of public art and graffiti, portraying the dichotomy between nature and the industrialized world. In a metaphorical framework, her art delves into the notion of finding our place in the world by depicting archetypes within wondrous urban and natural settings; fantastical characters blessed and at times burdened by our modern day ways of living. Figures convey strength, vitality and power; winged characters and fairies represent angels among us. EGR is well-known for her live painting performances at international events and her ability to create stunning large scale pieces on a variety of surfaces, combining artistic flair and skill with a deep love of music, nature and urban culture.
From illustrations to murals; EGR art has appeared in print, music videos, album covers and everything in between. Her work was included in Canada’s first national exhibition of street art at a major Canadian museum: the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) at the Institute for Contemporary Culture; at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) and The McMichael Canadian Art Collection; in galleries and collections worldwide across North America, Australia, UK, Brazil, Italy.
